Space Coast Wine Guild Meeting Minutes
Meeting Date: January 25, 2007
Meeting Place: Schecter Center
Attendance: 21
Our meeting began at 7:45 with the secretary’s report and treasurer’s report, along with an annual recap from the treasurer, Kathy Snavely. We had one guest: Sergio Suarez.
Old Business:
Denise Harrell presented information about a private wine tasting at Murdock’s in
Cocoa. Based on 30 people attending, the price would be $16.95. The only dates they could accommodate us would have been Feb. 15. With a show of hands, only 9 people were interested in attending on the 15th. Because that was less than 30, the price would have been higher. They normally have a wine tasting within their store on the 4th Thursday. Donna Thompson moved that we try Murdocks another time. Denise will see if there is another place holding tastings. The Corkscrew has opened in old Melbourne. It used to be the Apple Barrell.
Terri Johnson is working on getting a price for putting together a logo for T-shirts. Terri was not at the meeting, but Donna checked with her and there was no information to offer at this time. She is checking with a company to see if they can combine the artwork from Denise Harrell and Mark Stephens.
Kathy Snavely reserved the Rotary Park for our Annual Picnic which will be March 31. The club will supply the meat (hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages). All attendees should bring a potluck dish to pass. We will shoot for noon as the time to gather. Don Reese volunteered to cook again.
Wine Fest: 12 people raised their hands to attend the wine fest on March 10 at Hilton Head. Betty Nettles will look into lodging, Donnie for a van rental. We will most likely have to leave on a Friday afternoon and stay 2 nights lodging in Savannah area, which will be cheaper than Hilton Head. There is a restaurant right there where we can all chill for a while before driving back to Savannah.
Betty Nettles was contacted by Florida Today regarding an article on the club for the Orbitor, a Satellite Beach publication. We will try to get copies of the article.
Donna Thompson made a motion to close the meeting and it was seconded by Mary Shaw.
Donnie spoke about making wines from fruit and answered some questions.
Respectively submitted,
Betty Nettles, Secretary
