Space Coast Wine Guild Meeting Minutes
Meeting Date: March 23, 2006
Meeting Place: Schecter Center
Our last meeting was March 23 which was brought to order at 7:35 p.m. Minutes from February 2006 were read as well as the treasurer’s report. Attendance: 23
Old Business:
The picnic date has been set for Saturday, April 8 at
Rotary Park on US 1 at Suntree Blvd. We have the pavilion rented for the entire day, but will set picnic hours for 10 to 4. The club will provide the meat—hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages. Members attending should bring a dish to share as well as their own wine glasses and wine.
The boat cruise on Rumpel’s yacht is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, May 6. Again, we will share food and wine. It is asked that no tomato based food (like spaghetti, lasagna, or other messy tomato dishes be brought because of spills. Members should park at Gleason Park across from Eau Gallie Yacht Club on South Patrick Dr. and car pool over to the boat. Suggestions were made for a gift card to Rumpels for West Marine or an American Express Gift card. Also, members are asked to donate a bottle of their homemade wine as a gift. We will charge $10 per person for the boat ride which is what we will use for the gift card. $10 is not much when you consider the price of gas and the amount of fuel it will take to run the boat for 3 hours. Any class students who would like to attend either the picnic or boat ride should bring a bottle of their new wine.
New Business:
Pat Gaffney said she had two cases of empty wine bottles in the trunk of her car for anyone who wanted them.
Kate Buringrud announced that the Satellite Beach ABC was having a wine tasting for $10 each on Weds., March 29. President, Donnie Nettles, suggested to members that they attend wine tastings to expose themselves to new wines and different tastes. It was suggested that ABC may be willing to post information on the club.
Tom Hull has expressed an interest in updating the web site. Bill Snavely is currently in charge with some direction from Mitch Patterson.
Our guests for the evening were Bob Morse from the BCC Culinary Class, Bill and Jeanne Johnson, John Stephens, Tim and Suzanne Taber (Donnie & Betty’s daughter & son-in-law), Don Reese, Martin & Cheryl Kay.
A motion was made to close the meeting by Pat Gaffney and seconded by Terri Johnson.
The program for this evening is aromas. Donnie and Suzanne Nettles put 19 different food aromas in coffee cups with lids for smelling. The scents used are aromas commonly found in wines.
Respectively submitted,
Betty Nettles, Secretary
