February 2006 Meeting Minutes
Our meeting on Thursday, February 23, began at 7:35 p.m. We had several guests for the evening. Donna Thompson and I had invited all the new class members to attend our monthly meeting. Those present were Jack Burkowski, Don Reese, Mark Stephens, Bill & Jeanne Johnson and Larry Friedrick. We conducted our monthly raffle. The minutes of the January meeting were read and accepted and Kathy Snavely presented the Treasurer’s Report.
Old Business:
Picnic: Donna will call the Rotary Club to find out what they charge for the day and will check on reserving it for a day in April
There were some suggestions made as to the $10.01 that we thought would be left over after the purchase of each students equipment. A motion was made and withdrawn to use the $10.01 toward a 1year membership for a couple or a ½ year membership for an individual. Instead a suggestion was made to use the extra money toward the cost of renting the room for the classes. The question was asked of the 6 visiting students and they agreed to use it toward the cost of the room. Kathy Snavely discovered we really didn’t have $10.01 left over per student. After rechecking the invoice there were extra charges on two of the extra wine kits that students ordered and $70 for the extra bottles that were ordered to make the 30 bottles per kit. the cost of the kits were actually $154.99. The extra money will be applied to the cost of renting the facility.
Checked on volunteers for Saturday for the first class. Several people had signed up at the January meeting.
New Business:
Betty Nettles showed an advertisement for the River Queen cruises and will check on group rates and whether they will allow alcohol. Terri Johnson will also check with her friends, the Rumpels, about a cruise with them. This would take place in May.
Bob Parker mentioned TV31 in Melbourne played the taping of our show over and over. Donna mentioned we had a woman call re the classes from watching the program.
For upcoming events – June will be our annual wine competition.
A motion was made to close the meeting and seconded.
Respectively submitted,
Betty Nettles
